IP Rating: Ingress Protection
The IP rating or 'Ingress Protection Rating' defines the level of effectiveness of an electrical enclosure's sealing against the intrusion of moisture and foreign matter. The IP rating is an important indicator of how well an electrical enclosure could be protected in particular operating environments.
Each of the numbers that follow the IP have a specific meaning. The first number indicates the level of protection against external objects (tools, dust, etc.). The second number defines the level of protection against all forms of moisture (dripping, spraying, submersion, etc.).
IK Rating: Impact Resistance
IK Rating or "Impact Protection" is a measure of an electrical enclosure's resistance to mechanical impact, as defined in international standards. It is an important consideration when selecting LED lighting for areas that may be subject to rough environments, attempted vandalism, or other impacts.
The numbers following the IK rating indicate the level of protection against mechanical impact, 1-10 incrementally with a higher number representing a more robust product that can withstand higher energy impacts.
IK10+ impact resistance is one of the the key performace for industrial lighting fixtures. The products of Omniluce are always designed to take heavy duty in the harshest conditions and survive the vandalism in the worse case scenerio.
Thermal Management: Many Years of Reliable Performance Ensured
The junction temperature on the LED chipset must never exceed a certain level or the LED will be damaged and the lumens output begin to degrade permanently. When undertaking industrial and public lighting projects, where the majority of carefully planned lighting designs are located outdoors, it is vital that reliable fittings are installed that will provide excellent performance even after years of working in the hot sun.
We have creatively combined active and passive cooling by incorporating a thermal management monitoring module into the electronic control system so that the luminaire automatically reduces the current and output power in the event of overheating to ensure that the core components are protected from damage.
Rigorous and Meticulous Testing
All our Industrial and Public lighting products have to be tested in-house to establish IP rating. All watertight and sealed lighting products are IP66 rated, providing complete protection against dust and wave-like high pressure water jets from all directions. In addition to the protection, when subjected to these conditions, the surfaces of the lighting fixtures remain intact and free of dents or frost.
Apart from the IP and IK rating, all the other components that play a critical role within the entire lighting system have to be tested: UV and Salt Spray test, Thermal Shock Test, Chemical Resistant, Obstruction Test.
Dark Sky Compliance
For a long time, the industrial and public lighting products without prudent optical design have had their own design flaws leading to serious light pollution, spillover trespassing, etc. The negative impact of light pollution prevalent in large cities is much more than it appears on the surface. In addition to obscuring the beauty of the night sky, it interferes with the work of astronomical observatories and harms wildlife.
We have a range of products Dark Sky Compliant to protect night sky and prevent spillage into neighbouring areas:
✅ Purposefully designed optics: Asymmetrical light distribution combined with proper installation
✅ Dark Sky Lighting products features optimized CRI and CCT
